The future of P&A will be driven by two fundamental shifts: early value creation and disruptive rigless technologies.
Engaging P&A specialists during feasibility, design, and planning stages enables better project definition, integrated decision-making, and opportunities to optimise scope, reduce risk, and improve campaign efficiency.
At the same time, disruptive technologies are changing how wells are abandoned. The focus is moving away from conventional well intervention methods towards simpler, faster, and lower-carbon solutions. The future of P&A is about leaving more steel in the ground, reducing intervention requirements, dissolving shorter sections of casing, and deploying shorter alternative barrier systems that deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective abandonment outcomes.
Using industry case histories, this presentation will demonstrate how early integration and technology-led innovation are already reshaping the future of P&A delivery.
