Peter Adeshola Olowononi is the Director, Regional Operations of the African Export Import Bank Southern African Region covering 13 countries (Zimbabwe Angola, Botswana,
Eswatini, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Seychelles, South Africa and Zambia) a role he assumed on May 1 st , 2026,  Prior to that, he was the Director in charge of Client Relations, Anglophone West Africa covering (Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Sao Tome and Cape Verde) managing risk assets in excess of US$ 12 Billion and revenue of more than US$1 Billion. He was instrumental to the growth of the Anglophone West Africa Region balance sheet by
over US$10 Billion between 2015 and 2025. He participated and led the financing of many impactful projects in the region such as the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, Urea Fertilizer projects, Infrastructure projects such as the expansion and modernisation of the Federal Ocean Terminal in Onne, Hospital, Diagnostic Centres and critical road projects in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Gambia. He led Afreximbank’s strategic financing in support of the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas sector in Nigeria and is widely acknowledged as a leading subject matter expert. He structured trade finance in support of Intra-African trade of Cement, leading Cocoa traders and processors in Ghana and in Nigeria as well as the implementation of Afreximbank’s intervention via the Commercial Banks, Central Banks and Ministries of Finance, helping them to navigate the turbulent 2018 commodity price crises, Covid-19 crises as well as the impact of Russin Ukraine crisis. He joined the African Export Import Bank in July 2015 as Manager, Business Development, Anglophone West Africa and has more than 20 years of Banking experience Peter holds a Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University, USA, Certificate of Finance in International Trade from the University of Malta and an MBA from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has structured transactions and availed credits
across the Oil and Gas industry, Manufacturing, Maritime, Aviation, Financial Institutions in excess of US$20 billion in the last ten years.
