Kevin McLachlan is Vice President of Exploration based in Houston, Texas, a role he assumed in November 2025. In this role, he is responsible for Chevron’s worldwide exploration program and chairs the company’s Exploration Leadership Team. Previously, McLachlan was Senior Vice President of Exploration and head of Geoscience discipline at TotalEnergies. During his 11 years in this role, he implemented a strategy update, delivering a culture that enabled exploration effectiveness and success. Under McLachlan’s leadership, his organization was recognized as Wood Mackenzie’s Most-Admired Explorer in 2020, 2021, and 2022. During his career, McLachlan has gained extensive experience in international oil and gas exploration, development, production, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). He has held senior leadership and executive roles at Murphy Oil, Nexen Petroleum, and ExxonMobil working in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. education McLachlan holds a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics, Honors Program, from the University of Calgary and completed the INSEAD Business School’s Enterprise Leadership Development Program.
