TotalEnergies Advances Its Angolan Project Pipeline, Joins AOG 2026 as Platinum Sponsor
TotalEnergies’ Angolan strategy is anchored in expanding oil production, with continued investment in mature acreage and exploration of frontier blocks strengthening the company’s long-term resource base. The company operates Block 17, one of Angola’s most prolific deepwater areas, where projects including CLOV, Dalia, Girassol and Pazflor have supported national production for decades. Brownfield investments, infill drilling and satellite developments are extending the productive life of the block while improving efficiency and accelerating the delivery of additional resources.
The company is also advancing new developments, including the $6 billion Kaminho project in Block 20/11. The development will process resources from the Cameia and Golfinho discoveries through an FPSO designed to produce 70,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). Scheduled to begin production in 2028, Kaminho represents the first major deepwater development in the Kwanza Basin and is expected to establish infrastructure that can support additional discoveries across the surrounding acreage.
Kaminho follows a series of production milestones achieved by TotalEnergies in 2025. Together with its partners, the company brought the Begonia and CLOV Phase 3 developments online, adding a combined 60,000 bpd to Angola’s production base. These advancements coincide with renewed exploration activity in frontier provinces. In early 2026, TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil signed an agreement with Angola’s upstream regulator, the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency, for the allocation of four blocks across the Namibe and Benguela basins. The move is expected to accelerate exploration momentum in underdeveloped offshore areas, supporting Angola’s strategy to unlock new resource frontiers.
Beyond oil, TotalEnergies is participating in Angola’s first non-associated gas development through the New Gas Consortium. Gas from the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields is being supplied to Angola LNG, strengthening domestic gas availability while enabling the country to monetize resources beyond crude production. The project represents a key step in Angola’s efforts to expand gas-based industrial development and reinforce its position as an LNG exporter.
The company’s renewable portfolio further supports Angola’s energy diversification objectives through the Quilemba solar project in Huíla Province, developed in partnership with Sonangol and local stakeholders. The project is expected to expand electricity generation capacity and reduce reliance on diesel-based power generation in southern Angola.
TotalEnergies’ Platinum Sponsorship of AOG 2026 positions the company at the center of discussions around deepwater development, gas monetization, lower-emission production and energy diversification. Its participation reflects the scale of its Angolan portfolio and highlights the role of sustained investment in transforming the country’s resource potential into long-term production growth, industrial development and energy security.
