Speaking ahead of AOG 2026, Sintana Energy CEO Robert Bose said recent progress has strengthened the company's confidence in KON-16's geological and commercial potential.

Seismic acquisition has now been completed, with fast-track results expected to provide greater visibility into the size and contours of key prospects ahead of a planned mid-2027 drilling campaign. Bose added that Corcel has also received significant interest from potential partners, with discussions over a possible farm-out underway.

“Our participation in KON 16 is an excellent expression of our strategy – getting involved relatively early together with Corcel before all of the seismic acquisition was complete,” Bose said.

Sintana sees potential for the initial prospects to contain more than 300 million recoverable barrels if exploration confirms current expectations, offering what Bose described as an "offshore prize for an onshore cost." The partners' initial agreement similarly identified a multi-target prospect with estimated unrisked resources of several hundred million barrels of recoverable oil.

Sintana entered Angola in May 2025 through a transaction that would provide the company with an indirect 5% net interest in KON-16. Corcel operates the block, and the transaction remains subject to customary completion conditions, including regulatory approvals.

As Elite Sponsors of AOG 2026, Sintana and Corcel will use the event to deepen engagement with Angola's government and industry while evaluating additional opportunities in the market. The companies have also established an alliance to jointly pursue further oil and gas opportunities in Angola.

“There is no substitute to being present,” Bose said, describing AOG as an opportunity to gather market intelligence, strengthen partnerships and identify areas where Sintana can expand its presence in Angola.
