Sancorp Group Joins AOG 2026 as Elite Sponsor as Angolan Footprint Grows
Sancorp Group, the Dubai-headquartered energy and commodities trading group with active operations across sub-Saharan Africa, will participate as an Elite Sponsor at the Angola Oil and Gas (AOG) 2026 conference and exhibition in Luanda. The sponsorship reflects Sancorp's growing commitment to the Angolan market as the country seeks new investment partners across upstream production and downstream refining.

The group operates across the full energy value chain, from crude oil and refined product trading through upstream asset participation and oilfield services. Its trading counterparties include Trafigura, Mercuria, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, Dangote Fertilizers, Société Ivoirienne de Raffinage, PETROCI, the Tema Oil Refinery and Ghana's BOST. To date, Sancorp has structured over $2 billion in oil and gas investments across the continent.

Angola is central to the company's growth strategy. Sancorp is a registered counterparty with the country’s national oil company (NOC) Sonangol and is in advanced discussions on acquiring minority interests in two of the country's deepwater production blocks, operated by a major international consortium. The arrangement would provide direct crude oil lifting rights and establish the group as a principal player in Angolan upstream. Sancorp is also pursuing an equity stake in one of Angola's planned grassroots refineries, a move that aligns with the government's strategy to strengthen domestic refining capacity and reduce the country's reliance on imported fuel.

That combination of upstream access and downstream ambition makes Sancorp's presence at AOG 2026 relevant for operators, NOCs and investors evaluating new partnership structures in the Angolan market. The company's model, connecting Gulf-based structured finance and physical trading capacity with on-the-ground African operations, represents a category of investor that Angola's upstream reforms and refining program are designed to attract.

Sancorp's broader West African trading network provides additional context for its Angolan expansion. Ivory Coast is currently the group's largest market, with projected annual flows exceeding $600 million across refined products, crude, LPG and fertilizer. In Ghana, Sancorp supplied more than 300,000 MT of gasoil and gasoline in 2024. In Nigeria, its subsidiary SCP Energy maintains NIPEX-certified upstream service capabilities and is a certified export trading counterparty to the Dangote Refinery. The Angolan entry extends that footprint into one of Southern Africa's largest oil producing nations.

AOG 2026 takes place September 9-10 with a pre-conference day scheduled for September 8. Visit www.angolaoilandgas.com for more information.
