Oil & Gas Companies Bring Geophysical Expertise to AOG 2026
Alfort Petroleum is moving from subsurface evaluation toward drilling at Block KON 8 in the onshore Kwanza Basin, where the independent plans to drill an exploration well in 2026. After securing operatorship in 2015 and signing a Production Sharing Contract in 2022, Alfort undertook extensive analysis of available data packages, focusing its seismic work on specific targets it considers prospective. The resulting geological and geophysical analysis is now informing a detailed well proposal, with the company targeting a potential Q3 2026 drilling campaign subject to approvals and procurement. Time and Depth Imaging Advisor Yasser Shalash and Exploration Geophysicist José Estêvão will participate at AOG 2026 as Alfort moves toward testing its interpretation of KON 8.
Corcel is driving similar exploration activity at Block KON 16 where the company plans to spud a well in mid-2027. The company completed its 2025/26 seismic acquisition program after successfully targeting structures identified through earlier subsurface work, with processing of the newly acquired data now underway to progress these structures toward drillable prospects. The company sees potential for a discovery exceeding 300 million barrels and has highlighted geological analogies between structures identified at KON 16 and the Cameia discovery approximately 100 km away offshore. Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer Geraldine Geraldo will participate at AOG 2026 as the company advances this exploration strategy.
Offshore, Azule Energy is applying subsurface expertise across one of Angola’s largest producing portfolios while continuing to identify new resources around existing infrastructure. At Block 15/06, the company made the Algaita-01 discovery in 2026, identifying up to 500 million barrels of oil and bringing the number of discoveries on the block to 22. The company also made a gas discovery at Block 1/14 in 2025 at the Gajajeira-01 exploration well, with initial assessments suggesting gas volumes may exceed one trillion cubic feet. Senior Geologist Neila da Costa Mendes will participate at AOG 2026 as continued geological evaluation, exploration and infrastructure-led development support Azule’s ambition to reach 250,000 barrels per day in the coming years.
