Oceaneering Anchors West Africa Operations in Angola
“We have the main hub for Western Africa, here in Angola,” Granato said. “ We also have our main facilities, including our administrative office and all of our business units,” he explained. Oceaneering’s operations in Angola cover a wide range of energy services. “We have our SSR group with ROVs and surveying, our OPG projects group that manages vessels and diving, our products team and our integrated management digital group,” Granato explained. “We support subsea inspection and are now integrating digital solutions to enhance these operations.”
Oceaneering has been present in the country since the 1980s and currently employs around 640 local staff. “We work with local universities, schools, and technical institutions to develop internship programs,” Granato said, adding that the company’s training centers conduct cross-training and host international specialists to build local capacity.
Oceaneering’s focus on Angola as a regional hub is further reflected in its recent business developments. In mid-2025, the company secured a subsea services contract for ExxonMobil’s subsidiary Esso Exploration Angola’s Block 15 valued at $80–90 million over three years, signaling its expanding presence in the country and its strategic role across West Africa.
