Abigail Francisco Boa, Chana Lisboa, Genilda Ricardo and Madalena Yanesa Ramos Neto were presented with the awards, marking the third edition of the scholarship program. The initiative is championed by Angola’s Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas in partnership with the African Energy Chamber and recognizes the highest-performing female entrants to INP, providing financial support throughout their technical education.

The scholarship is named after Albina Faria de Assis Pereira Africano, an Angolan petroleum engineer and former Sonangol executive. The program is intended to support greater participation by women in technical fields within Angola’s energy sector.

The awards come as Angola seeks to strengthen its domestic technical workforce amid continued investment in exploration, production and energy infrastructure. INP plays a central role in this effort, providing specialized training for careers across the petroleum, gas and chemical industries.

The institute offers programs including electromechanics, refining and chemical processing, drilling and production technology, and industrial automation. Its courses focus on technical skills relevant to Angola’s energy and industrial sectors, providing students with a pathway into specialized employment.

The scholarship also comes as local-content requirements and workforce development remain priorities for Angola’s oil and gas industry. As international and domestic operators advance new projects and exploration programs, developing a larger pool of locally trained technical workers remains an important part of the sector’s development.

For the four recipients, the scholarships provide financial support as they begin their technical education and pursue careers in Angola’s energy sector.
