ExxonMobil Launches Mentorship Program at Women’s Breakfast at AOG
ExxonMobil has launched the second edition of its mentorship program for women in energy, announced during the Women’s Breakfast at Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) 2025. The news was shared by Katrina Fisher, Country Manager, ExxonMobil Angola, on September 4 at the event which was sponsored by national oil company Sonangol and organized by the Muhatu association.

“ExxonMobil has been part of Muhatu since the beginning, and we worked on mentoring programs. Now, we will be launching a new mentoring program,” said Fisher. “I wouldn’t be in my position if I hadn’t had people along the way helping me. It is important to share capabilities and experiences.”

The program is designed to strengthen skills and expand professional networks for women in energy. Each participating company is asked to nominate three mentors and three mentees, creating structured pairings across the industry. A total of 41 participants have already registered, with the program set to begin mid-September. Fisher added that this edition will be shorter and more focused to ensure efficiency. “If everything goes well, we will do a third round,” she confirmed.

The breakfast also featured an inspiring conversation between Nicola Mvuayi, President, Muhatu and Vera Daves de Sousa, Minister of Finance of Angola. She thanked Sonangol and all the women in attendance, while reflecting on her career beginnings at Sonangol. “Sonangol is a status symbol of Angola and a company that delivers and respects the norms of good governance. I started my career there and I am thankful for this opportunity, it was very enriching. I hope that they will remain a beacon of professionalism in the country.”

Daves de Sousa concluded with a strong message on the importance of empowerment and mentoring, “Women need to believe in themselves. Emotional intelligence and mentorship are important–you need to listen to people’s experiences. Those little details make the difference.”
