Azule Energy Signs on as AOG Sponsor as Offshore Projects Strengthen Production Outlook
International energy company Azule Energy has joined the Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) Conference and Exhibition as a Gold Sponsor, taking place September 9-10 with a pre-conference day scheduled for September 8. The sponsorship comes on the back of a series of offshore project milestones reached in recent months, all of which strengthen the company’s production outlook at it pursues 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) in the coming years.

As one of the country’s biggest oil producers, Azule Energy has been consolidating its production portfolio through several large-scale developments. These include the Agogo Integrated West Hub project which started producing from the Agogo FPSO in 2025 and achieved full start-up at the Ndungu field in early 2026. First cargo from the Agogo facility was launched at AOG 2025.

Situated at Block 15/06, the development monetizes oil resources from the Agogo and Ndungu fields, utilizing two FPSO facilities - Ngoma and Agogo - which have a peak combined capacity of 175,000 bpd. The Agogo FPSO is also the first facility in the country where operational emissions are fully offset, reflecting the impact advanced technologies play in ensuring sustainable production.

On the east side of the block, the company continues to strengthen production dynamics. A discovery made at the Algaita-01 well in 2026 revealed up to 500 million barrels of oil, building on 22 discoveries made at Block 15/06 and supporting production growth at the East Hub Development. The well is situated in close proximity to the operational Olombendo FPSO which currently produces hydrocarbons from nine subsea wells.

In the natural gas sector, Azule Energy is leading the country’s pursuit of non-associated gas development through its operatorship of the New Gas Consortium (NGC). A cornerstone of this strategy is the NGC project, featuring the development of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields. The project came online in 2025, with first gas delivery achieved in 2026.

Initial gas flows to the onshore liquefaction treatment plant in Soyo measure 150 million cubic standard feet per day (mmscf/d), with flows set to increase to 330 mmscf/d by the end of this year. The treatment plant has a capacity of 400 mmscf/d and will supply feedstock to the Angola LNG plant, strengthening the country’s export capacity.

Beyond production, Azule Energy invests heavily in local content and corporate social responsibility initiatives, reflecting the broader role international energy companies can play in strengthening community development in Angola. Recent initiatives include the inauguration of a new primary school in Namibe province, the delivery of four social projects to the Provincial Government of Zaire and a signed MoU with the Ministry of Health to mobilize additional financing to extend cardiac surgery services at the Cardeal Dom Alexandrew do Nascimento Hospital Complex.

Azule Energy’s return to AOG 2026 as a sponsor therefore underscores the company’s long-term commitment to Angola’s oil and gas sector at a time when deepwater developments, non-associated gas projects and frontier exploration are reshaping the market.

The company’s participation signals continued confidence in Angola’s investment environment and reinforces the role the conference plays as a strategic platform for advancing partnerships, showcasing major projects and supporting the country’s drive to sustain production above one million bpd.
