AOG 2025 to Host Discussion on Understanding IOC Procurement
The procurement masterclass will be led by some of the country’s biggest oil and gas operators. Speakers include Adão Costa, Procurement Manager at energy major ExxonMobil Angola, and Maurizio Lapichino, Procurement Director at international energy company Azule Energy. With a strong portfolio of producing oil and gas assets, both companies have an established presence Angola. The AOG 2025 masterclass will offer strategic insight into how local providers can navigate the procurement processes of these companies, as both ExxonMobil and Azule Energy rapidly expand their investments in Angola.
AOG is the largest oil and gas event in Angola. Taking place with the full support of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas; the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency; the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute; national oil company Sonangol; and the African Energy Chamber; the event is a platform to sign deals and advance Angola’s oil and gas industry. As one of the country’s biggest oil and gas producers, Azule Energy has been accelerating exploration and production projects in recent months. On the exploration front, the company strives to unlock new resources in Angola through bold drilling campaigns in established basins. Azule Energy’s most recent gas discovery – made at the Gajajeira-01 well in Block 1/14 last July – is set to trigger a new era of non-associated gas development in Angola. On the production side, the company has reached several milestones in 2025. These include the start of operations at the Agogo FPSO – part of the broader Agogo Integrated West Hub Development. Looking ahead, the company is preparing to start operations at the Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields in late 2025 – the first non-associated gas project in the country. These projects showcase Azule Energy’s extensive footprint in the market.
ExxonMobil, for its part, is leading frontier exploration efforts in the Namibe basin. As a largely underexplored basin, Namibe offers significant opportunities for play-opening discoveries. On the production side, the company continues to maximize output at producing assets while bringing new projects online in line with the country’s broader production goals. In 2025, ExxonMobil – alongside its Block 17 partners – signed a production sharing contract extension for Block 17. The companies also started operations at the CLOV Phase 3 Development at the block, bringing 30,000 barrels per day to the market. As ExxonMobil expands its presence in Angola, the company’s demand for innovative procurement services is also expected to rise.
