AOG is the largest oil and gas event in Angola. Angola’s Ministry of Energy and Water has prioritized the expansion of the country’s water and power infrastructure. Recent projects aim to boost accessibility while creating employment and business opportunities. In collaboration with Namibia, Angola’s Minister of Energy and Water plans to start the construction of the Baynes hydroelectric power plant in September 2024. An agreement was signed in June 2024, with the project targeting a capacity of 881 MW. In May 2024, the Ministry also authorized the deployment of 62,250 solar systems; inaugurated the Luena solar park – providing power to 59,000 people – and relaunched the Luassim Hydropower Station. During AOG 2024, Minister Borges will share insight into these projects and future investment opportunities across the water and energy industries in Angola.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is enhancing cooperation with international partners to drive trade and business growth. Recent meetings with officials from Macau and Japan aimed to foster economic and trade cooperation, private investment and collaborative projects. At AOG 2024, Minister de Oliveira will share insights on how oil and gas investment can support Angola's trade and industry.

Meanwhile, Angola’s Ministry of Environment continues to make strides to enhance environmental protection as well as the utilization of the country’s natural resources. The Ministry met with Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change this year to strengthen collaboration to combat climate change and environmental protection. The meeting followed the launch of the Blue Skies & Net Zero 2050 Campaign, which aims to tackle climate change-related issues. Minister de Carvalho will delve into the role collaboration plays in advancing both hydrocarbon and sustainable development in Angola.
