Advisory, Legal and Digital Expertise to Take Focus at AOG 2026

Advisory, Legal and Digital Expertise to Take Focus at AOG 2026
As Angola advances a $70 billion upstream investment pipeline alongside major gas, refining and infrastructure developments, attention is increasingly shifting to the conditions required to turn investment into operating projects. Advisory, technology and legal expertise will feature prominently at the Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) 2026 Conference and Exhibition, with André Afonso, Partner – Assurance at EY; João Eanes, Industry Value Adviser at SAP; Nuno de Miranda Catanas, Founder and Managing Partner at MC Jurist; and Rosana Ikeji, Independent Consultant and DBA Researcher – Workplace Wellbeing in Angola, joining the conference in Luanda this September.

EY returns to AOG 2026 as a Gold Sponsor as Angola looks to accelerate the delivery of its next generation of oil and gas projects. Speaking ahead of the conference, Afonso highlighted reducing project time-to-market as a priority for sustaining production above one million barrels per day, arguing that Angola’s stable contractual and investment environment provides a strong foundation for further growth. Afonso also sees alternative financing structures – including partnerships between smaller operators, larger industry players and commodity traders – playing a greater role as independents expand across Angola’s onshore acreage. At AOG 2026, Afonso will bring an advisory perspective to discussions around project execution, financing and investment.

Digitalization represents another lever for accelerating project delivery and improving operational performance. SAP provides oil and gas technology spanning upstream productivity, asset management, supply-chain visibility, commodity management and AI-enabled operations, with an established presence in Angola’s oil and gas sector. The company previously supported the ANPG’s digital transformation of its core systems, helping establish an integrated technology platform following the regulator’s creation in 2019. Eanes brings experience in IT and business strategy, process improvement and the design and execution of SAP implementation roadmaps to AOG 2026.

As new entrants, international investors and established operators pursue opportunities across Angola, the legal and regulatory environment remains central to structuring investment and executing projects. Luanda-based MC Jurist specializes in corporate and investment law, with experience spanning oil and gas, tax and customs, employment and human resources. The firm has advised petroleum-sector clients on corporate, foreign exchange, customs, environmental and regulatory matters, giving it direct exposure to the legal considerations shaping investment in Angola’s oil and gas industry. Catanas’ participation at AOG 2026 will bring a legal perspective to discussions around investment structures, regulatory compliance and the frameworks supporting project development in Angola.

Project execution also depends on the people responsible for delivering and operating Angola’s growing energy portfolio. Ikeji joins AOG 2026, bringing workforce considerations into the conference agenda. Ikeji’s participation creates an opportunity to examine workplace wellbeing alongside the wider human-capital requirements of Angola’s oil and gas industry as companies manage technically demanding projects, develop local capabilities and build workforces capable of supporting long-term sector growth.
