The scholarship is an initiative championed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas of Angola in Partnership with the African Energy Chamber. 

The scholarship will sponsor the top 4 deserving female teenage students who performed best in the entrance exam, for the full 4-year duration of their Studies at the INP - Instituto Nacional de Petróleos in Sumbe. The scholarship award will be presented to the deserving students by HE Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas of Angola. 

The scholarship is named in honor and in recognition of Dr Albina Faria de Assis Pereira Africano, presidential advisor, and former Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of Angola. The only woman to have held this position, she was instrumental in promoting the women in education as well as in the oil and gas sector of Angola.
